Martin Morububuna is one of the founding fathers of fine art in Papua New Guinea.
As one of the early pupils of the National Art School he is recognised internationally for his paintings and prints. Over 20 of his original prints, produced during the late 70’s and early 80’s are in the collection of the National Gallery of Australia and his work is highly sought after on the international market.
He was 2009 Artist in Residence at the De Young Museum, San Francisco where he created one of his hallmark murals and attended and participated in ‘Hailans to Ailans’ in both London, United Kingdom and British Columbia, Canada. This show will continue onto St Andrews Scotland as part of the 2010 European Society for Oeania Conference.
Sadly Martin passed away suddenly November 2013 leaving a rich and deep legacy.
